This is my first step-by-step tutorial, so go easy on me! I spend a lot of time folding stars for my friends and myself, somewhere around the neighborhood of 133 hours of my life and $442 on at least 8000 stars, if my statistics are accurate. But I've gotten a lot of questions on how to fold origami stars and I thought I'd try and make an explanation so other people can learn to fold stars too. I put a lot of work into this thing; I took over 300 photos of stars for this little side project of mine [my digital camera kept blurring up the shots >__<'] and I plan to do a follow-up with a group of photos of different styles of stars that I fold, so that people can see the variety of paper types, textures, and colors that are out there. If you see any mistakes or if something is not clear, please leave a comment so that I can correct it. Aside from that, enjoy looking at the tutorial and I wish everyone good luck on folding their own stars. The file is rather large; just full-view to see it. All comments and favorites are appreciated...

Yays! I'm very glad to have helped you. It's a bit hard to explain everything..and the first star I made was far from perfect. But I just wanted other people to learn in a easier way. Spent a helluva long time on this one...it's still not perfect, but it's not bad for a start. How are the stars I gave you? I forgot to take a picture of 'em before I gave 'em to ya. >__<. Anyways, hope you and Mandy are doing well.

Much love,
Jingmama

I'm really going to have to have a go at that and make hundreds (if I get the hang of it) I've always thought they were amazing!

YAY! Thanks so much for all the tips! ^_^ This was the first thing I saw in my messages since I came back and what a good deviation it was :nod:
I really like the notebook-marker-strip tip ^^ ~ gonna try that out NOW.
So many people asked me how to make a star on my last deviation. Guess I'll just link EVERYONE to you :giggle:.
Great job on the layout ~ nice colours (and colour co-ordination with the instructions and photos) and I love how you drew those translucent boxes to emphasize a certain area in the photo ^^

p.s. not to be picky but you missed out the step where you tuck in the end of the strip ^^;. Origami veterans will have no problem but newbies will :D

Thanks again for this tutorial!

^___^ I'll try and fill in the text that I missed on that step. I can't believe I forgot to add it...I was just like...this tutorial shit takes too long *lazy*. :D Thanks for reading and linking people to me [will they be more confused before or after they leave?]. The notebook paper strips are the ghetto and cheap way of doing it. But it takes me 2 minutes to cut each strip and line it since I'm such a perfectionist and I don't want any of the blue lines showing through. Another method that I plan on checking out is using a paper shredder, but normally the cut isn't exact or the sizing is too small. But I'm on a quest to find the most efficient means to make stars *intense look in eyes*. Seriously, after each 50-100 stars that I do, I'm starting to develop calluses. Ah well, for the love of friends, I suppose. Take care and thanks for dropping a line.

I think it's fairly easy after you do the first 5 well. It takes a bit of patience for the first hundred. Happy star making to you, though. Thanks for checking it out. It was a frustrating tutorial to do...so much tiiiiime. Glad it's going to good use!

;O;

THIS ROCKS

but alas, i cannot make the pentagon because i am a retard, even after watching the video i find it hard and cannot get past that point ._x;
:iconjingmamalulu:
Ah..well, what exactly are you having trouble with? I'll be glad to help ^_^. If you still have trouble with it, it's probably my fault for not explaining well enough, so, if you need it, I'll reshoot a second video and go over the process again, it's no trouble, just ask me if you need it. Take care.

awh, its ok, i got it now, its just me doing the whole thing backwards again >_>

for some strange reason, everytime i do origami, it turns out backwards. i couldnt even make a paper boat ._.

the best origami thing i've ever made is a hat .___.;;;

but i got it now, and besides the fact it looks rather squished and battered, it still looks like a star. kinda :3

and i think you explained it better then the other origami instructions i've ever read.
:iconjingmamalulu:
Oh, thanks. Glad you figured it out...I was worried my tutorials weren't thorough enough >___<. Most of the time, I can't do origami either, no worries about that. And I'm really not some kind of expert on this...I just folded one star thousands of times, that's all. Glad to be of help, though. Good luck in future foldings! Thanks for commenting and faving, by the way. Would it be too much to ask for you to also read my journal to see what's up in the deviantART community today? I'm not sure if you've heard about Jark [the co-founder of dA] being fired....go and see, thanks~
